Read+Comment is a WordPress 3.0 multisite installation, running a single theme – Commentariat2. Commentariat2 was designed specifically to be a flexible tool for building document-centric sites, enabling easy comments and rapid customisation of the look and feel. You’re looking at a Commentariat2 site right now. So is this one, and this one.

When your R+C site is set up, you’ll get the login details by email and set to work adding your content and choosing colours and styles for your layout.

The Commentariat2 Theme Options panel makes it easy to choose colours and add logos and backgrounds to your site:

Unlike most WordPress sites, Read+Comment homepages are empty when you start, designed for you to arrange how you want by dragging-and-dropping WordPress widgets to bring in pages, RSS feeds, links, recent comments, recent blog posts, a table of contents menu, embedded videos – the sky’s the limit:

Cutting and pasting your document content is pretty straightforward using the visual WordPress editor, letting you upload images and create links without needing to have HTML or CSS knowledge (though it’s always handy):

With WordPress 3, you have total control over your table of contents and navigation menus. Add items, move them around, create subsections – just by dragging and dropping:
